紫禁城炒豆腐 (Forbidden City Fried Tofu) is a classic dish from Chinese Imperial Cuisine, known for its delicate flavors and exquisite presentation.
Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu, drained and cubed
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup snow peas
- 2 green onions, chopped
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sugar. Set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the tofu cubes and fry until golden brown on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the garlic and ginger. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the red bell pepper and snow peas to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes until slightly tender.
- Return the tofu to the skillet and pour the soy sauce mixture over the ingredients. Stir to coat everything evenly.
- Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly.
- Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
