Forest Mushroom Pie (Miško grybų pyragas)
This Miško grybų pyragas, or Forest Mushroom Pie, is a traditional Lithuanian dish that celebrates the rich flavors of forest mushrooms. This savory pie is perfect for a cozy family dinner or a special gathering with friends.
Ingredients
- 500g mixed forest mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 tbsp butter
- 2 eggs
- 200ml sour cream
- 200g all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a pan, sauté the mushrooms and onion in butter until the mushrooms are golden and the onion is soft. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside to cool.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and sour cream. In a separate bowl, mix the flour and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, stirring until smooth.
- Grease a pie dish and spread half of the batter on the bottom. Add the cooled mushroom mixture on top, then cover with the remaining batter.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Let the pie cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
