Fowey Fudge Cake

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup fudge pieces
- 1/2 cup hot water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x9 inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
- Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the buttermilk, mixing just until incorporated. Fold in the fudge pieces.
- Stir in the hot water. The batter will be thin. Pour evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool in the pan on a wire rack.
