Ingredients

  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 2-3 green chilies
  • 1/2 inch ginger
  • 1/4 cup roasted chana dal
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Salt to taste
  • For tempering:
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp urad dal
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • 2-3 curry leaves

Instructions

  1. In a blender, add grated coconut, green chilies, ginger, roasted chana dal, water, and salt.
  2. Blend to a smooth paste.
  3. Transfer the chutney to a serving bowl.
  4. For tempering, heat oil in a small pan.
  5. Add mustard seeds, urad dal, asafoetida, and curry leaves.
  6. Once the mustard seeds start to splutter, pour the tempering over the chutney.
  7. Stir gently to combine.
