Fragrant Herb-Stuffed Fish (Otlu Dolma Balık)
Otlu Dolma Balık, or Fragrant Herb-Stuffed Fish, is a traditional dish from Crimean Tatar cuisine. This dish features a whole fish stuffed with a flavorful mixture of herbs and spices, then cooked to perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 whole fish, cleaned and gutted
- 1 cup chopped mixed fresh herbs (such as parsley, dill, and cilantro)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the stovetop to medium heat.
- In a bowl, mix the chopped herbs, onion, garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Stuff the fish cavity with the herb mixture.
- Brush the outside of the fish with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
- Place the fish in a large skillet and cook for about 10-12 minutes on each side, or until the fish is cooked through and the skin is crispy.
- Remove from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
