Fragrant Spicy Beef (Xiāng Là Niúròu)
Xiāng Là Niúròu, or Fragrant Spicy Beef, is a popular dish in Tianjin Cuisine known for its bold flavors and tender beef. This dish is perfect for those who enjoy a spicy kick in their meals.
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef, thinly sliced
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 bell peppers, sliced
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp chili paste
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp Sichuan peppercorns
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 2 green onions, chopped
Instructions
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a wok over high heat.
- Add the beef and stir-fry until browned. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside.
- Heat the remaining tablespoon of oil in the wok. Add the garlic, onion, and bell peppers. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, chili paste, sugar, and Sichuan peppercorns.
- Pour the sauce mixture and beef broth into the wok. Bring to a simmer.
- Return the beef to the wok and stir to coat with the sauce. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
