Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 cups pitted cherries
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, almond flour, 1/2 cup sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Press half of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking pan to form the crust.
  4. In another bowl, combine the cherries, 1/4 cup sugar, and cornstarch. Spread the cherry mixture over the crust in the pan.
  5. Stir the almond extract into the remaining flour mixture, then sprinkle it over the cherry layer.
