French Dip
French dip is a classic sandwich made with thinly sliced roast beef, served on a crusty French roll, and dipped in flavorful au jus sauce. It's a delicious and satisfying meal that's perfect for lunch or dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds thinly sliced roast beef
- 4 French rolls
- 8 slices provolone cheese
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Split the French rolls and place them on a baking sheet. Toast in the oven for 5 minutes.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the sliced onions. Cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes.
- In a large pot, combine the beef broth, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- Add the roast beef to the simmering broth and heat for 3-4 minutes.
- Assemble the sandwiches by layering the roast beef, caramelized onions, and provolone cheese on the toasted French rolls.
- Use the remaining broth as au jus for dipping.
