Pâte de Manioc Frit, also known as Fried Cassava Balls, is a popular snack in Burkinabé cuisine. These crispy and flavorful balls are made from cassava, a starchy root vegetable commonly found in West Africa.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs cassava, peeled and grated
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the grated cassava, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into a ball using your hands. Repeat with the remaining mixture.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Carefully place the cassava balls in the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the fried cassava balls from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve the Pâte de Manioc Frit hot and enjoy!
