Fried Chhoyela (तल्ला छोयला)

तल्ला छोयला (Fried Chhoyela) is a traditional Newari dish that is popular in Nepal. It is made with marinated meat that is fried to perfection, resulting in a flavorful and aromatic appetizer or side dish.

Fried Chhoyela (तल्ला छोयला)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless meat (chicken, lamb, or goat)
  • 2 tbsp mustard oil
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cut the meat into small pieces and marinate with mustard oil, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, lemon juice, green chilies, and coriander leaves. Let it marinate for at least 2 hours.
  2. Heat a pan on the stovetop and fry the marinated meat until it is cooked through and slightly charred.
  3. Remove from heat and serve hot, garnished with fresh coriander leaves and lemon wedges.
