Ingredients
- 4 fillets of fish (such as kingfish or pomfret)
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
- Salt to taste
- 3 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1 inch ginger, minced
- 4-5 garlic cloves, minced
- 2-3 green chilies, slit
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 cup water
- Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the fish fillets with turmeric powder, red chili powder, black pepper powder, and salt. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Heat 2 tbsp of coconut oil in a pan and fry the marinated fish fillets until golden brown. Set aside.
- In the same pan, heat the remaining coconut oil and sauté the onions, ginger, garlic, and green chilies until the onions turn golden brown.
- Add the tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
- Stir in the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and garam masala. Cook for a few minutes.
- Pour in the water and bring the sauce to a simmer.
- Gently place the fried fish fillets into the sauce, spooning the sauce over the fish. Cook for another 5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves and serve hot.
