Fried Okra With Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 pound okra, sliced
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the sliced okra with cornmeal, salt, and black pepper until the okra is coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
  3. Add the coated okra to the pan and fry until golden and crispy, about 8-10 minutes.
  4. Remove the fried okra from the pan and set aside.
  5. In the same pan, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until fragrant.
  6. Pour in the tomato sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
  7. Add the fried okra back to the pan and stir to coat with the tomato sauce.
  8. Remove from heat and serve hot.
