Fried Rice (bali Bliss Nasi Goreng)
Fried rice, or Nasi Goreng, is a popular dish in Balinese cuisine. This flavorful and aromatic dish is a staple in Indonesian households and is perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 4 cups cooked white rice
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, bell peppers)
- 200g chicken, diced
- 4 shallots, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
- 1 teaspoon shrimp paste (terasi)
- 1 teaspoon tamarind paste
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the beaten eggs and scramble until cooked. Remove from the wok and set aside.
- Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in the same wok.
- Sauté the shallots and garlic until fragrant.
- Add the diced chicken and cook until no longer pink.
- Stir in the mixed vegetables and cook until tender-crisp.
- Add the cooked rice to the wok and stir-fry for a few minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sweet soy sauce, shrimp paste, tamarind paste, and sugar.
- Pour the sauce over the rice and mix well to combine.
- Return the scrambled eggs to the wok and toss everything together.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Remove from heat and serve the Bali Bliss Nasi Goreng hot.
