Fried Stuffed Lotus Root (Chǎo Sūnxiān Ou)

Ingredients

  • 2 lotus roots, peeled and sliced
  • 200g ground pork
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together the ground pork, egg, garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, salt, and white pepper.
  2. Take each lotus root slice and stuff it with the pork mixture, then coat with cornstarch.
  3. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat, then fry the stuffed lotus root until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Remove from the pan and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  5. Serve hot and enjoy!
