Fried Tofu And Pork (tokwa't Baboy)

Ingredients

  • 1 block firm tofu, cut into cubes
  • 1/2 lb pork belly, sliced into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon whole peppercorns
  • 2 green chilies, sliced (optional)
  • 2 cups cooking oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, vinegar, onion, garlic, and whole peppercorns to make the dipping sauce. Set aside.
  2. Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the tofu cubes until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the pan and drain on paper towels.
  3. In the same pan, fry the pork belly until cooked through and crispy. Remove from the pan and drain on paper towels.
  4. Arrange the fried tofu and pork on a serving platter. Serve with the soy-vinegar dipping sauce and sliced green chilies, if desired.
