Fried Tofu with Oyster Sauce (Tokwa't Baboy)
Tokwa't Baboy is a popular Filipino Chinese dish made with fried tofu and pork belly, served with a tangy soy-vinegar dipping sauce. It's a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or main dish that's perfect for sharing with family and friends.
Ingredients
- 1 block (14 oz) firm tofu, drained and cut into cubes
- 1/2 lb pork belly, boiled and cut into small pieces
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1 small red onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- Green onions, chopped for garnish
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, and ground black pepper to make the dipping sauce. Set aside.
- Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the tofu cubes until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the pan and drain on paper towels.
- In the same pan, sauté the garlic and onions until fragrant. Add the boiled pork belly and cook until lightly browned.
- Arrange the fried tofu and pork belly on a serving plate. Garnish with chopped green onions.
- Serve the Tokwa't Baboy with the prepared dipping sauce on the side.
