Fried Tofu with Oyster Sauce (Tokwa't Baboy)

Ingredients

  • 1 block (14 oz) firm tofu, drained and cut into cubes
  • 1/2 lb pork belly, boiled and cut into small pieces
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • Green onions, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, and ground black pepper to make the dipping sauce. Set aside.
  2. Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the tofu cubes until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the pan and drain on paper towels.
  3. In the same pan, sauté the garlic and onions until fragrant. Add the boiled pork belly and cook until lightly browned.
  4. Arrange the fried tofu and pork belly on a serving plate. Garnish with chopped green onions.
  5. Serve the Tokwa't Baboy with the prepared dipping sauce on the side.
