Fried Yomari (तल्ला योमरी)
Yomari is a traditional Newari delicacy made during the Yomari Punhi festival. It is a sweet dumpling filled with a mixture of chaku (molasses) and sesame seeds. In this recipe, we will make a savory version of yomari called "तल्ला योमरी" (Fried Yomari).
Ingredients
- 2 cups rice flour
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup minced meat or vegetables
- 1/2 cup chopped onions
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the rice flour and water to form a smooth dough.
- In another bowl, mix the minced meat or vegetables, onions, cilantro, turmeric powder, cumin powder, and salt to make the filling.
- Take a small portion of the dough and flatten it into a small disc. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center and seal the edges to form a yomari shape.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry the yomari until they turn golden brown.
- Remove the fried yomari from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot and enjoy the delicious fried yomari!
