Frisian Stuffed Bell Peppers (Fryske Folle Paprika's)

Ingredients
- 4 large bell peppers
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes.
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is tender.
- Stir in the cooked rice, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Stuff the bell peppers with the meat and rice mixture.
- Place the stuffed peppers in a baking dish and pour the tomato sauce over them.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil, sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the peppers, and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
