Frites (yambio Yam Chips)
Frites, also known as Yambio Yam Chips, are a popular snack in South Sudan. These crispy and flavorful yam chips are perfect for munching on their own or as a side dish.
Ingredients
- 2 large yams, peeled and thinly sliced
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully add the yam slices to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry the yam slices for 5-7 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Sprinkle with salt to taste and serve hot.
