Gahori Mangxo (assamese Style Beef Curry)
Gahori Mangxo is a traditional Assamese beef curry that is rich in flavor and spices. This dish is a perfect blend of tender beef and aromatic spices, making it a favorite among meat lovers.
Ingredients
- 500g beef, cut into cubes
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3-4 green chilies, slit
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 teaspoons red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2-3 tablespoons mustard oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat mustard oil in a pan and add the chopped onions. Sauté until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the beef cubes and cook until they are browned on all sides.
- Stir in the turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and the oil separates from the masala.
- Pour in 2 cups of water, cover the pan, and let the beef simmer until tender.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
