Gahori Mangxo (assamese Style Mutton Curry)
Gahori Mangxo, also known as Assamese Style Mutton Curry, is a traditional dish from the northeastern state of Assam in India. This flavorful and aromatic curry is a staple in Assamese cuisine and is often served with steamed rice.
Ingredients
- 500g mutton, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3-4 green chilies, slit
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 teaspoons red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons mustard oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat mustard oil in a pan and add the chopped onions. Sauté until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the mutton pieces and cook until they are browned.
- Stir in the turmeric, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook for a few minutes.
- Pour in enough water to cover the mutton. Cover and cook on low heat until the mutton is tender.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
