Gahori Tenga (assamese Style Beef Soup)
Gahori Tenga is a traditional Assamese beef soup that is known for its tangy and flavorful broth. This dish is a staple in Assamese cuisine and is often enjoyed with steamed rice.
Ingredients
- 500g beef, cut into cubes
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 3-4 cups water
- 1 tbsp mustard oil
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat mustard oil in a pot and add the sliced onion. Sauté until golden brown.
- Add the beef cubes and cook until they are browned on all sides.
- Stir in the chopped tomatoes, grated ginger, green chilies, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for a few minutes.
- Pour in the water and bring the soup to a boil. Then, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 1 hour or until the beef is tender.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
