Galbi Tang (갈비탕)
갈비탕 (Galbi Tang) is a traditional Korean soup made with beef short ribs and a variety of vegetables. It is a hearty and flavorful dish that is perfect for warming up on a cold day.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs beef short ribs
- 8 cups water
- 1 onion, sliced
- 4 green onions, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 1 daikon radish, peeled and sliced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- In a large pot, bring the water to a boil.
- Add the beef short ribs and boil for 5 minutes to remove any impurities. Then, drain and rinse the ribs under cold water.
- Return the ribs to the pot and add the onion, green onions, daikon radish, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, black pepper, and salt.
- Bring the soup to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the meat is tender.
- Skim off any fat or foam that rises to the surface during cooking.
- Once the meat is tender, remove it from the pot and shred it into bite-sized pieces. Return the meat to the pot.
- Adjust the seasoning with more salt or soy sauce if needed.
- Serve the 갈비탕 (Galbi Tang) hot, garnished with additional sliced green onions if desired.
