Galbijjim Stuffed Bell Peppers (갈비찜)
갈비찜 (Galbijjim) is a traditional Korean braised beef dish that is savory, slightly sweet, and incredibly tender. In this recipe, we will be incorporating the flavors of galbijjim into stuffed bell peppers for a unique and delicious twist on the classic dish.
Ingredients
- 4 large bell peppers
- 1 pound beef short ribs, cut into small pieces
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon rice wine
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes.
- In a large bowl, combine the beef short ribs, onion, garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, rice wine, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure the beef is coated with the marinade.
- Stuff the bell peppers with the marinated beef mixture and place them in a deep pot or Dutch oven.
- Pour water into the pot, cover, and cook over medium heat for 1 hour, or until the beef is tender and the peppers are cooked through.
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
