Galet Kyaw, also known as Sweet and Sour Fish, is a popular dish in Burmese Chinese cuisine. It features crispy fried fish coated in a tangy and sweet sauce, creating a delightful combination of flavors.
Ingredients
- 500g fish fillets, cut into pieces
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Coat the fish pieces with cornstarch.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan and fry the fish until crispy. Set aside.
- In the same pan, sauté the onion, bell pepper, and garlic until fragrant.
- Stir in ketchup, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, and water. Cook until the sauce thickens.
- Add the fried fish to the sauce and toss to coat.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
