Garudhiya Riha (maldivian Fish Soup)
Garudhiya Riha is a traditional Maldivian fish soup that is simple, flavorful, and comforting. It is a staple dish in Maldivian cuisine and is often enjoyed with steamed rice or roshi (flatbread).
Ingredients
- 500g fresh fish (tuna or other firm white fish), cut into chunks
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 green chilies, sliced
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 1-inch piece of ginger, thinly sliced
- 4 cups water
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
- Add the onions, tomatoes, green chilies, curry leaves, and ginger to the boiling water.
- Simmer for 15 minutes until the vegetables are soft.
- Add the fish chunks to the pot and simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes until the fish is cooked through.
- Season with salt to taste.
- Serve the Garudhiya Riha hot with steamed rice or roshi.
