Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup walnuts, chopped
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add the beaten egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, mixing well.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the butter mixture until just combined.
- Stir in the chopped walnuts until evenly distributed in the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it out evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the gata to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and serve the gata at room temperature.
