Gejrot Tofu Delight (tahu Gejrot Delight)

Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup of sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • 3 shallots, finely chopped
  • 2 red chilies, thinly sliced
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1 teaspoon of tamarind paste
  • 1 teaspoon of palm sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and fry the tofu cubes until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels and set aside.
  2. In a separate pan, combine the sweet soy sauce, shallots, red chilies, tomato, tamarind paste, palm sugar, salt, and water. Cook over medium heat until the sauce thickens slightly.
  3. Add the fried tofu cubes to the sauce and stir to coat the tofu evenly. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and transfer the Gejrot Tofu to a serving plate.
