General Tso no Ramen (General Tso's Ramen) is a fusion dish that combines the flavors of Japanese ramen with the iconic General Tso's chicken from Chinese cuisine.

Ingredients

  • 4 packs of ramen noodles
  • 1 lb of boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 3 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 4 green onions, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, cook the ramen noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until fully coated.
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until golden and crispy. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the green onions, garlic, and ginger. Cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Stir in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Bring the sauce to a simmer.
  6. Add the cooked chicken back to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce.
  7. Divide the cooked ramen noodles among serving bowls. Top with the General Tso's chicken and garnish with sesame seeds.
