Ghormeh (spiced Beef Curry)
Ghormeh is a traditional spiced beef curry from Tajik cuisine that is rich in flavor and aroma. This hearty dish is perfect for a cozy family dinner or a special gathering with friends.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs beef, cut into cubes
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic, and cook until softened.
- Add the beef cubes to the pot and brown on all sides.
- Stir in the turmeric, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Cover and cook for 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Add the diced tomatoes and kidney beans to the pot. Cook for an additional 30 minutes.
- Adjust seasoning if needed and serve hot.
