Gimbap (김밥)
Gimbap, also known as Kimbap, is a popular Korean dish made with steamed white rice and various ingredients, all rolled in dried seaweed sheets. It is a versatile and convenient dish that can be enjoyed as a snack, lunch, or picnic food.
Ingredients
- 4 sheets dried seaweed (nori)
- 2 cups steamed white rice
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 strips of pickled yellow radish (danmuji)
- 4 strips of cooked spinach
- 4 strips of pickled burdock root (eomuk)
- 4 strips of cooked egg omelette
- 8 strips of imitation crab sticks
Instructions
- Place a sheet of dried seaweed on a bamboo sushi mat.
- Spread a thin layer of steamed white rice over the seaweed, leaving a small border at the top edge.
- Drizzle a little sesame oil and sprinkle a pinch of salt over the rice.
- Arrange the pickled yellow radish, spinach, burdock root, egg omelette, and imitation crab sticks in a line across the rice.
- Roll the gimbap tightly using the bamboo mat, sealing the edge with a little water.
- Cut the rolled gimbap into bite-sized pieces and serve.
