Ingredients
- 2 green plantains, peeled and sliced
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 cup of your favorite salsa or chimichurri sauce
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add the plantain slices and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove the fried plantains from the skillet and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Using a tostonera or the bottom of a heavy glass, flatten the plantain slices to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Return the flattened plantains to the skillet and fry for an additional 2-3 minutes on each side until crispy.
- Remove the tostones from the skillet and sprinkle with salt to taste.
- Serve the tostones with your favorite salsa or chimichurri sauce for dipping.
