Goan Prawn Balchao

Ingredients

  • 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 4-5 dried red chilies
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 6-8 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp tamarind paste
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onions until golden brown.
  2. Add the dried red chilies, ginger, and garlic. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Stir in the turmeric powder, tamarind paste, sugar, and salt. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Add the prawns and cook until they turn pink and are cooked through.
  5. Remove from heat and let it cool before serving.
