Goan Prawn Rissois

Ingredients

  • 500g prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 pack of store-bought puff pastry

Instructions

  1. In a pan, melt the butter and sauté the onion and garlic until soft.
  2. Add the prawns, paprika, cumin powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until the prawns are pink and cooked through. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  3. Shred the prawns and set aside.
  4. In a separate pan, heat the milk. Gradually whisk in the flour to make a thick white sauce.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded prawns. Let the mixture cool completely.
  6. Roll out the puff pastry and cut into circles. Spoon a portion of the prawn filling onto each circle and fold over to form a half-moon shape. Seal the edges with a fork.
  7. Dip each rissois in beaten egg, then coat with breadcrumbs.
  8. Heat oil in a pan and fry the rissois until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy!
