Ingredients
- 1 lb shrimp, cleaned and deveined
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 4-5 dry red chilies
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 6-8 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add grated ginger, minced garlic, and dry red chilies. Sauté for a few minutes.
- Add turmeric powder and sauté for another minute.
- Add the cleaned shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Pour in the vinegar and season with salt. Cook until the shrimp is done and the sauce thickens.
- Goan Shrimp Balchão is ready to be served hot with steamed rice or crusty bread.
