Goan Style Prawn Masala (Prawn Balchão)

Ingredients

  • 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 4-5 dry red chilies
  • 1-inch ginger, finely chopped
  • 6-8 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil

Instructions

  1. Grind the dry red chilies, ginger, garlic, turmeric powder, and cumin seeds to a fine paste.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
  3. Add the ground masala paste and cook for a few minutes.
  4. Add the prawns and cook until they turn pink.
  5. Pour in the vinegar and season with salt. Cook for another 5-7 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
