Goan Style Prawn Masala (Prawn Balchão)
Prawn Balchão is a traditional Goan dish known for its spicy and tangy flavors. This dish is a perfect blend of Portuguese and Indian influences, making it a unique and delicious addition to any meal.
Ingredients
- 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 4-5 dry red chilies
- 1-inch ginger, finely chopped
- 6-8 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
Instructions
- Grind the dry red chilies, ginger, garlic, turmeric powder, and cumin seeds to a fine paste.
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
- Add the ground masala paste and cook for a few minutes.
- Add the prawns and cook until they turn pink.
- Pour in the vinegar and season with salt. Cook for another 5-7 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
