Gobi Bhujia (spicy Cauliflower Stir-fry)
Gobi Bhujia is a delicious and spicy cauliflower stir-fry that hails from Pashtun Cuisine. This dish is bursting with flavor and makes for a perfect side dish or a light meal.
Ingredients
- 1 medium cauliflower, cut into florets
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
- Add the sliced onion and sauté until it turns golden brown.
- Stir in the ginger and garlic paste, then add the chopped tomatoes. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and the oil separates.
- Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the cauliflower florets and stir to coat them with the spice mixture.
- Cover the pan and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cauliflower is tender but still has a bite to it.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
