Gobi Tandoori Steak, also known as Tandoori Cauliflower Steak, is a delicious and flavorful dish from East Indian cuisine. This vegetarian twist on a classic steak is marinated in aromatic spices and then grilled to perfection, making it a great option for a meatless meal or a side dish.
Ingredients
- 1 large head of cauliflower
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons tandoori masala
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Trim the leaves and stem from the cauliflower, then cut it into 4 thick slices to create "steaks".
- In a bowl, mix together the yogurt, tandoori masala, lemon juice, ginger paste, garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt to taste.
- Brush both sides of the cauliflower steaks with the tandoori marinade.
- Drizzle the grill or grill pan with oil and place the cauliflower steaks on it. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until charred and tender.
- Remove the cauliflower steaks from the grill and garnish with fresh cilantro.
- Serve hot as a main dish or a side with your favorite Indian bread or rice.
