Gobi Tandoori Steak (tandoori Cauliflower Steak)

Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cauliflower
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons tandoori masala
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Trim the leaves and stem from the cauliflower, then cut it into 4 thick slices to create "steaks".
  3. In a bowl, mix together the yogurt, tandoori masala, lemon juice, ginger paste, garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt to taste.
  4. Brush both sides of the cauliflower steaks with the tandoori marinade.
  5. Drizzle the grill or grill pan with oil and place the cauliflower steaks on it. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until charred and tender.
  6. Remove the cauliflower steaks from the grill and garnish with fresh cilantro.
  7. Serve hot as a main dish or a side with your favorite Indian bread or rice.
