Ingredients
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water (110-115°F)
- 1 cup warm milk (110-115°F)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine the yeast mixture, warm milk, sugar, butter, salt, egg, and 2 cups of flour. Mix well.
- Add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, stirring well after each addition.
- When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 6 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a smooth ball and place them in a greased 9x13 inch baking pan.
- Cover the rolls and let them rise until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Brush the rolls with melted butter immediately after removing them from the oven.
