Golden Crispy Spring Rolls (Chả giò)
Chả giò, also known as Vietnamese Golden Crispy Spring Rolls, is a popular dish in Vietnamese cuisine. These spring rolls are filled with a delicious mixture of ground pork, shrimp, vegetables, and vermicelli noodles, then deep-fried until golden and crispy.
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- 1/2 cup chopped mushrooms
- 1/4 cup chopped onions
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup vermicelli noodles, soaked in water until soft
- 20 spring roll wrappers
- 1 egg, beaten
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground pork, shrimp, carrots, cabbage, mushrooms, onions, garlic, and vermicelli noodles.
- Place a spring roll wrapper on a clean surface and spoon about 2 tablespoons of the filling onto the bottom third of the wrapper.
- Roll the wrapper over the filling, tucking in the sides, and continue to roll into a tight cylinder. Seal the edge with the beaten egg.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully place the spring rolls into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Remove the spring rolls from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve the chả giò with dipping sauce and enjoy!
