Golden Samsa (Самса)

Ingredients

  • 500g ground lamb or beef
  • 2 large onions, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 500g puff pastry dough

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground meat, onions, salt, pepper, cumin, and paprika until well combined.
  2. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  3. Roll out the puff pastry dough and cut it into 12 equal squares.
  4. Place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each pastry square.
  5. Brush the edges of the pastry with water and fold them over the filling to form triangles. Press the edges to seal.
  6. Place the samsa on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush the tops with vegetable oil.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes or until the samsa are golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
