Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and blanch them in the boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then remove and set aside.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place a spoonful of the beef and rice mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll them up, tucking in the sides to form a neat roll.
  4. In a separate pot, combine the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and beef or vegetable broth. Place the cabbage rolls in the pot, cover, and simmer for 1 hour.
  5. Once the Golubtsy are cooked, serve them hot with a spoonful of the tomato sauce from the pot.
