Gong Bao Xia, also known as Sweet and Spicy Manchu Kung Pao Shrimp, is a delicious and flavorful dish that originates from Manchu Cuisine. The combination of succulent shrimp, crunchy peanuts, and a sweet and spicy sauce makes this dish a favorite among seafood lovers.
Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cup roasted peanuts
- 3 green onions, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon Sichuan peppercorns
- 1 teaspoon dried chili flakes
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and cornstarch. Set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add Sichuan peppercorns and dried chili flakes, and stir-fry for 30 seconds.
- Add shrimp, garlic, and ginger to the wok. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the shrimp turn pink.
- Pour in the soy sauce mixture and cook until the sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.
- Stir in roasted peanuts and chopped green onions. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish.
