Ingredients
- 2 lbs beef chuck, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 onions, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp sweet paprika
- 1 tsp caraway seeds
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup red wine
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the beef cubes and brown on all sides. Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.
- Add the onions to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the garlic, sweet paprika, and caraway seeds, and cook for 1 minute.
- Return the beef to the pot and add the tomato paste, beef broth, and red wine. Season with salt and pepper.
- Bring the goulash to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beef is tender.
- Adjust the seasoning if needed and serve hot.
