Ingredients
- 2 cups gram flour (besan)
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine gram flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin seeds, asafoetida, yogurt, oil, and salt. Mix well to form a smooth dough, adding water as needed.
- Divide the dough into small portions and shape them into cylindrical rolls to make the dumplings (gatte).
- Boil water in a pan and add the gatte. Cook for 15-20 minutes until the gatte float to the surface. Remove from water and set aside.
- For the curry, heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, asafoetida, and turmeric powder. Then, add the cooked gatte and sauté for a few minutes.
- Add yogurt and water to make the curry, and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes until the gatte are coated with the curry.
- Garnish with cilantro and serve hot with rice or roti.
