Ingredients

  • 2 red chilies, sliced
  • 1 lemongrass stalk, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon tamarind paste
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 kaffir lime leaves

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the shallots, garlic, chilies, lemongrass, turmeric powder, tamarind paste, and salt to form a marinade.
  3. Rub the marinade over the fish fillets and let them sit for 10 minutes.
  4. Brush the grill with oil and place the fish fillets on the grill. Cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the fish is cooked through and has grill marks.
  5. While the fish is grilling, heat the vegetable oil in a pan and fry the kaffir lime leaves until fragrant.
  6. Serve the grilled fish with the fried kaffir lime leaves and the spicy sauce on the side.
