Chèvre Braisé, or Grilled Goat with Spicy Tomato Sauce, is a traditional dish from Central African cuisine that is bursting with flavor. The tender goat meat is braised to perfection and then topped with a spicy tomato sauce, creating a delicious and hearty meal.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs goat meat, cut into pieces
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 cups tomato puree
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Season the goat meat with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the goat meat and brown on all sides. Remove the meat and set aside.
- In the same pot, add the chopped onion, garlic, ginger, and cayenne pepper. Cook until the onions are soft and translucent.
- Stir in the tomato puree and bring to a simmer. Add the goat meat back to the pot.
- Cover and let the goat meat braise for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until tender.
- Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
- Serve the braised goat with the spicy tomato sauce on top.
