Guanimes
Guanimes are a traditional Puerto Rican dish made from cornmeal. They are similar to tamales and are often served as a side dish or snack.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cornmeal
- 4 cups water
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a large pot, bring the water to a boil.
- Gradually add the cornmeal to the boiling water, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Add the salt and continue stirring until the mixture thickens, about 15-20 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Shape the mixture into small patties or balls.
- Place the patties on a greased steamer and steam for 30-40 minutes.
- Remove from the steamer and let them cool before serving.
