Guernsey Gâche Mêlée Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 500g Gâche bread, sliced
  • 50g unsalted butter, melted
  • 100g mixed dried fruits (raisins, sultanas, currants)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 500ml whole milk
  • 100g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Arrange the sliced Gâche bread in the prepared baking dish. Drizzle the melted butter over the bread slices and sprinkle the mixed dried fruits on top.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Pour this mixture over the bread, ensuring all the slices are coated. Let it sit for 10 minutes to allow the bread to absorb the liquid.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the pudding is set and golden brown on top.
  5. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
