Gui Zhou Dou Fu Wan (guizhou Style Stuffed Tofu)

Ingredients

  • 4 pieces of firm tofu
  • 200g ground pork
  • 1 cup chopped shiitake mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sichuan peppercorns
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tofu by cutting a slit in the side of each piece to create a pocket for the stuffing.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the ground pork, shiitake mushrooms, green onions, garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, Sichuan peppercorns, salt, and white pepper.
  3. Stuff the tofu pockets with the pork mixture, pressing gently to fill the pockets completely.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat, then add the stuffed tofu pieces and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and the pork is fully cooked.
  5. Serve the Gui Zhou Dou Fu Wan hot, garnished with additional green onions if desired.
